Using "count", average" in Pivot Tables reading a cube

Hi:

I am trying to use a pivot table in Excel 2007 which is reading a cube for data. when I try to change the "value Filed Settings" from sum to average, I can't do this. "Average" is greyed out. Is this a limitation in using a cube with a pivot table? If so, is there a work around using the OLAP extension?

Thanks,

Some PivotTable features (like that one) are intended only for non-OLAP PivotTables.

So you'll need to either add that average to your cube, or use OLAP PivotTable Extensions to add a new calculated measure. If you just want a simple average, then you need a Sum measure and a Count measure, then do the ratio of them. The expression you'd use in OLAP PivotTable Extensions would look like the example ratio I put on the Calculations Help page.
