Can you describe exactly how you got that particular message? I've never seen it, and I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting OLAP PivotTable Extensions can do to workaround it.

Ah. I figured out how you got this message. You had a calculated member and then you ran "convert to formulas" at which point it gave you that popup.

Unfortunately, I don't know any way of working around this problem. You could, of course, go to the MDX tab of OLAP PivotTable Extensions, copy the create member syntax, and then add that to the MDX script of your cube. But that's not something OLAP PivotTable Extensions can or should do.

If you have any thoughts on working around the problem, let me know.

Looks like this has been fixed in Excel 2010! I was able to create a calculated measure using OLAP PivotTable Extensions then convert the PivotTable to formulas, and the calculated member still returned values when queried with the =CubeValue Excel formula. So you might consider upgrading to Excel 2010
